Not so snazzy headlights
I recently installed a skateboard headlight. The system has two drawbacks:
-
It isn’t bright enough to actually illuminate anything on the road ahead of me, making it less of a headlight, and more of a warning light to midgets (the tip of the board prevents the light from reaching too high).
It screws on between the deck and the trucks; but it isn’t angled. Things that live betwen the deck and the trucks are called risers, and, if they are angled, can make the board a lot easier to turn. The headlights aren’t angled, and therefore don’t make the board any easier to turn.
To install the headlight, I had to remove my nice angled riser (aka “a wedge”) and replace it with the flat headlight riser. I didn’t notice a big difference in terms of responsiveness, but I didn’t notice much in the way of light, either.
For $17 a pop, I wouldn’t recommend these things. $10, sure, but not the princely sum of $17.
