Fever Dreams

I think I’ve been spending too much time in front of a computer. I woke up this morning convinced that I had spent the last half hour helping some guy debug his file sharing app. The guy had an oiled beard, and strong, Disney-esque chin, reminiscent of the original movie Captain Hook. I distinctly remember helping the Cap’n replace polling a file handle every n seconds with a select(). I think reading The Pig and the Box before going to bed may have had something to do with it.

Ugh. Only two more weeks, and the thesis should be done. One way or another. =P

When I worked (far too much) for a local company with an overhead paging system, I used to dream about hearing pages. It was NOT restful at all.

    Good luck with the thesis.

Did you ever notice that Captain Hook and Duke Igthorne were not only voiced by the same person, but looked pretty much like the same guy? Almost like they were brothers, but one was in Neverland and one was in the Gummi Bear forest? Oh, and of course, one had a hook for a hand….

I was always intrigued by that as a wee bairn.

Man. I’d forgotten about the Gummi Bears. I really enjoyed that show. I hadn’t realized that it was a Disney production.

In the original Peter Pan Hook was voiced by (and modelled after) Hans Conried who passed away in January of 1982 (before the Gummi Bears tv show was made). Duke Igthorne was voiced by Michael Rye.
