Hey agintk,

There were a fair number of candidates in the council election. I supported people that I thought would do a good job in council. Some of them them won (my original post makes it sound like none of them did - that was an error on my part), while others didn't. Who won doesn't really matter: so long as the council represents the values of the Party, and is able to help the Party broaden its appeal, I'm happy.

I was under the impression that David was declared "senior" Deputy Leader last week in a joint press conference with Elizabeth May and David Chernushenko. I'm sure you'll correct me if that wasn't the case.

As to your question of "what party runs the same guy for office twice"? I don't think there's any shame in a Green Party candidate losing during an election. The Party as a whole is still working to make itself professional. Until that happens, I doubt we'll see any Green MPs win. In David's two attempts, he has won us lots of converts: since David's first shot at Ottawa-Centre, our percentage of the popular vote has increased threefold. Our riding AGM this spring was full of people who said that they were there specifically because of David.

If "none of the folks I was expecting to win did well in the Federal Council race" you might learn something from that. Does this mean you supported Kevin Colton, Bill Hulet and their "bunker" crowd?

Read the recent history of the party in the links provided. Your riends lost for a reason.

David Chernushenko will not be offered the GPC Deputy Leadership. He was firmly under the guidance of "the bunker" throughout his run for Leader. Votes for Elizabeth were not "a vote against David, or his vision of a more inclusive Green Party" but they were votes against the GPC bunker.

And what serious party runs the same guy for office after he gets the local newspaper endorsement twice, and comes FOURTH twice? The GPC has to grow up.
