Asperger Test (AQ test)

Geeks abound in my profession. The geekiest of the geeks are socially awkward, uncoordinated, obsessed with our own narrow interests. It turns out that there’s a medical condition called Asperger syndrome whose list of symptoms are very similar to the behaviour of the stereotypical geek. Interestingly, Asperger syndrome is described as a highly functional form of autism.

One of the diagnostic tests used to determine if someone is an aspie is an Asperger Quotient (AQ) test. The test consists of 50 questions, which quantify problems with social skills, attention switching, communication/imagination, and exaggerated attention to detail.

I’ve webified the AQ test. It allows you to calculate your AQ, and shows your in comparison to those common to certain professions.

Excuse me hate to moan but i was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome and i find it odd why you have jumped to the assumption that all people with asperder’s are geeks becuase i’m not one myself

I first took this test at http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/9.12/aqtest.html I like this test. It helped to reafirm that I am an Aspie.

    37. I’m not surprised at all. I have Asperger’s Syndrome with apraxia.

And not all aspies are geeks. I am a geek, but I think I got that from my father. My mother was the one with Asperger’s.

OK, I got a 39. Once again! It explains a lot, but I’m afraid to report the correct score to anyone. I keep reporting a score of 32 :P because 39 feels too evident… I’m a girl who’s also been diagnosed with synaesthesia years ago (perhaps that’s why I can easily visualize any thing my mind can conceive and can read people too while still scoring high here?) and successfully work in the artistic community. So, not everyone who scores high on this test is necessarily a geek or any oother label because I believe our unique personality cocktail depends on the proportions of whatever influences our persona and, probably for many of these factors compositing the general pattern, some accurate classifications might not even exist on paper yet. Anyway, I’d rather know the truth as much as possible tho I might not broadcast it to everyone! ;-D take care.

I got 46/50 for the AQ test.

A similar test is the “Aspie Quiz”. That one is more specific to Asperger’s Disorder than it is to autism itself and it supplies a graph and an analysis in the results.

My results there are 190/200 for Aspie and 15/200 for NT.

    Scored a 34. And there’s a missing s in question 34 too.
