Ottawa goes open

The City of Ottawa has released its first open data. It isn’t too exciting – just maps of rec. facilities. But it’s a step in the right direction. I look forward to seeing financial info up there.

I’m actually wanting the “Development Application Search” data (http://app01.ottawa.ca/postingplans/) up in an open format before the financials. That, and the EatSafe database.

I actually started writing code to scrape DevApps a while ago, but never got around to finishing it.
